Poland’s Moviebird has just unveiled the MB12 electric telescoping jib, featuring its groundbreaking “Verticrane” function—the world’s first and only production‑ready elevating camera jib. The Verticrane enables vertical extension and retraction, with a tilt range from –25° to 90°. It also boasts a unique foldable “Yoke”—a U‑shaped bracket that connects the boom to the center column—allowing it to transform seamlessly from a standard telescoping arm into a vertically lifting jib. The design is protected by more than 30 patent applications.
The added vertical lift capability enables the telescoping boom to capture previously unattainable camera angles in tight spaces such as narrow stairwells. The foldable yoke allows the operator to tilt freely between –25° and 90° and to perform seamless, continuous panning movements.
The MB12 VertiCrane is a lightweight, highly maneuverable, two-section camera lift boom developed and manufactured based on the standard MB12 electric telescoping arm. It boasts a compact footprint, versatile functionality, and a robust construction. The MB12 VertiCrane can be mounted on a wide range of platform systems, including the all-new MiniBird scissor‑type track dolly, heavy‑duty camera dollies for tracking rigs, and electric camera‑capture vehicles. Featuring an innovative triangular cross‑section and a three‑point rail system, it is built with durable aluminum profiles, delivering exceptional stability and structural integrity to withstand the stresses and impacts of vehicle motion. Power can be supplied either by a standard 48V battery pack or via 110–240V AC using the included AC/DC power adapter.
The Verticrane is equipped with a new horizontal head, allowing for either remote‑controlled gimbal mounting or direct mounting, along with buttons for adjustable horizontal offset and an optional GLA gyroscopic leveling attachment. As an option, the all‑new MiniBird scissor‑type trolley features a folding mechanism that enables it to adjust its width to suit different track gauges, allowing it to pass through narrow doorways as narrow as 0.8 meters.
